For the last 37 years, Russell has called Lenoir, NC home. He's raised three kids in Lenoir and has been a good neighbor, all while running his State Farm office. Pro Tip: North Carolina is among the top 10 states for cooking/grease fire losses. To ensure you have a safe holiday keep these tips in mind:

  • Prepare a "kid-free zone" of at least 3 feet around the stove.

  • Reduce chances of a fire. Keep anything that can catch fire away from stove top.

  • Never dash out while cooking. Keep an eye on what you fry. Always cook with a lid beside your pan. If you have a fire slide lid over pan and turn the burner off.

  • Prep your kitchen by having a working smoke alarm. Keep smoke alarms at least 10 feet (3 meters) from the stove to reduce false alarms.
